Petition of Theodore Parker and others, of Kittery that the Law authorizing the Supreme Judicial Court to lay out Roads Petition of the Selectmen of Dixfield that the doings of said town may be made valid and Petition of William Sullivan and others for a revision of the Law relating to taxes, were severally read and in concurrence with the House referred to the Committee on the Judiciary

Petition of William Tozier, a soldier in the late war praying relief in consequence of a wound received was read and in concurrence with the House referred to the committee on Sick and Wounded Soldiers

Petition of the Directors of Canton Point Bridge for a Lottery to aid them in building said bridge, was read and referred to the Select Committee on the subject of Lotteries. Sent down for concurrence. Came up concurred.

Orders of the House of Representatives, that the Committee on the Judiciary be instructed to inquire if any alterations are necessary in the Law relating to the duties of Selectmen in laying out streets and Highways also to inquire if any alterations or further provisions are necessary in the Law defining the powers and duties of Surveyors of Highways, also to consider on the expediency of providing by Law for the choice of Harbour Masters, in the several towns in this State where the same may be deemed necessary and to define their powers and duties and that they report by Bill or otherwise -
