Ordered that the committee on the Judiciary be instructed to enquire what alterations if any are necessary in the Law “ascertaining what shall constitute the legal settlement; and providing for the relief and support, employment & removal of the poor” – read and passed. Sent up for concurrence.

An order came from the Senate referring the petition of Jonathan Tucker and John Spring to the committee on Canals, Turnpike roads, & Bridges for concurrence and the House concurred.

Petitions of Robert Wentworth & al of Buxton to have line between said town and Scarboro’ fixed. - of John Ireland & als & report thereon, taken from Senate files of 1825 - - of David Wasgatt & als & report thereon, taken from last years files of Senate - - of Levi Whitman & als & report thereon, taken from last years files of Senate - came from the Senate severally referred to the Committee on the incorporation of towns for concurrence – and the House concurred

Petition of Lydia Allen & als for leave to sell lands formerly belonging to Joseph Allen Decd - came from the Senate referd to the committee on the Judiciary for concurrence – and the House concurred.

Petition of James Neal & als Stockholders of the United Marine and Fire Insurance Company for a law fixing the mode of calling future meetings &c, was read and referred to Messrs Longfellow of Portland, Cumston of Scarboro & Witham of Danville.
