Bill – establishing the County of Waldo was reported with sundry amendments which were adopted. Mr Snow then moved that the subject be referred to the next Legislature and that the Bill be published in all the Newspapers printed in Portland that publish the Laws of the State, - and the question was taken by yeas & nays and decided in the negative as follows: [see appendix page 294] yeas 54 nays 66 – and the papers were ordered to lie on the table -

Bill – an additional act to provide for carrying into effect certain stipulations in the act for erecting the District of Maine into a seperate [separate] State, was read a 1st, 2nd & 3d time and passed to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.

Ordered that the Senate be requested to send to this House the petition of Nathan Elden Junior to be admitted to practise [practice] as an Attorney at the C. C. Pleas – read & passed. Sent up.

Bill – additional to the act authorizing a Lottery for the benefit of the Cumberland & Oxford Canal, was called up and on motion referred to Messrs Roberts of South Berwick, Scamman of Pittston & McKown of Boothbay, with particular instructions as contained on sheet A annexed thereto.

Bill to incorporate the Saco Manufacturers Canal Company, was referred, on motion of Mr Adams of Portland, to the committee on Bills in the third reading, with special instructions, as contained on sheet marked A annexed to said Bill.

Petition of the Proprietors of the Falmouth Canal for a law to revive said Corporation, was read & referred to the committee on the Judiciary. Sent up for concurrence.
