35. Wednesday January 10th 1827 Met according to adjournment.

Ordered that the Doorkeeper be directed to cause a temporary Stage to be erected over the stairs in the Northerly part of this house for the accommodation of the Editors of the several public journals in this town - read and passed.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence directing the Committee on Accounts to inquire whether the laws establishing the pay of the Secretary of State, the Treasurer, the Adjutant General, the Secretary of the Senate, and Clerk of the House & their Assistants, in full for the services appropriate to their offices, require amendment; and report at an early day of the session: and the House concurred.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence directing the committee on the Judiciary to inquire into the expediency of repealing "An act authorizing the Supreme Judicial Court to lay out and alter public highways in certain cases" which passed in February 1823 and the House concurred.

Ordered that the joint standing Committee on the Judiciary be directed to enquire into the expediency of so amending the laws for the Assessment & collection of taxes, as that Sharers in Banks and other corporations liable to attachment on mesne process, may be taken by warrant of Distress for taxes, & disposed of in the same way & manner as goods and chattels - read and passed. Sent up for concurrence.
