this camp.- Tuesday Oct 28th Col Walker left for home on recruiting service. - On Tuesday ( 28th ) the regiment -with the rest of the division, now under command of Gen. Stoneman successor to Gen. Kearny , killed at the battle of Chantilly Sept 1st.- crossed the Potomac into Virginia, fording the river at White's Ford, and camping about a mile from the landing, where we remained till Friday ( 31st ), when we moved camp to the neighborhood of Leesburg.-
