The President announced to the board the appointment of the following standing Committees of the Senate, to wit:

On Bills in the Second reading. Messrs Kingsbery, Dole,

            Sweat,       Steele, 
            Megquier,  Hutchings &
            Gardner,    Hinds.
            Davee.

On Engrossed Bills. Messrs. Ingalls, Hutchinson

            Pike,      Drummond
            Hall,          and
            Fuller,    Gardner
            Harding

[Report concerning Rules and Orders.] The Committee appointed to prepare rules and orders for the Government of the Senate for the current political year, reported, and the report on motion was ordered to lie on the table.

[Order reconsidered.] The order passed yesterday, assigning this day at eleven o'clock for the choice of a chaplain, was reconsidered.

[Clergymen of Portland officials as chapl] On motion of Mr. Ingalls, Ordered, that the Clergymen of Portland, in regular standing, be requested to officiate as chaplains of this board by rotation, according to seniority.

[Chaplains notified] Ordered, that the Secretary of the Senate be directed to notify the Clergymen of Portland of the passage of the above order.
