Ordered that the Committee on the Judiciary be directed to inquire into the expediency of empowering School Districts to assess upon themselves, a sum additional, to their proportion of the monies raised, by their respective towns, for the support of Schools, to be applied to the purposes of mutual instruction, provided, That such additional sum shall not exceed their quota of money raised, by the town - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill - to incorporate the Methodist Meeting House Corporation in Bangor, was called up & refused a passage in concurrence with the Senate.

Bill - to cede to the United States the jurisdiction of certain tracts of land in Saco & Biddeford, was read a second time & amended, and tomorrow at ten oclock assigned for a third reading.
