Message from the Governor,

To the Senate & House of Representatives, In pursuance of the request of the Governor of South Carolina, the accompanying Report and Resolutions of the Senate & House of Representatives of that State are transmitted for the consideration of the Legislature. Enoch Lincoln Council Chamber February 9th 1828 The foregoing message together with the accompanying Documents came from the Senate referred to the committee on Literature & Literary Institutions for concurrence, and the House concurred.

Bill - additional act respecting the fishery in the seven mile brook in Vassalboro' reported with sundry amendments which were adopted was read a third time & passed to be engrossed as amended. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill - to incorporate the Master Warden & Members of Meridian Splendor Lodge, was read 1st & 2d time & tomorrow at ten oclock assigned for a 3d reading.

Bill - additional act for the regulation of the Penobscot and Passamaquoddy tribes of Indians, came from the Senate passed to be engrossed as amended by adopting a new title in the following words "An act concerning the Penobscot tribe of Indians." The House concurred in the amendment proposed, read the Bill once & recommitted the same to the committee on the Judiciary. Sent up for concurrence.

Resolve in favor of the Trustees and Overseers of Bowdoin College was taken up and considered, and a motion made indefinitely to postpone the same - but before the question was taken the House adjourned to meet at half past three oclock this afternoon
