Bill regulating weights and the sale of Hoops & Staves by tale, reported in a new draft which was adopted, was read a third time & passed to be engrossed as in new draft. Sent up for concurrence.

Report on the petition of Josiah Dunn Junr & als, granting leave to withdraw, came from the Senate accepted for concurrence and the House concurred.

Bill - providing for State Paupers, came from the Senate that body, refusing to adopt the new draft of the House & adhering to their former vote refusing the original bill a passage. The House so far recede from their former votes as to concur with the Senate in refusing the Bill a passage

Message from the Senate by Mr Hutchinson their Secretary informing the House that the Senate returned to the House the Bill providing for the promotion of education, that the House may correct the discrepancies which appear in the amendments to the Bill proposed by the House - and the House referred the Bill to Messrs Smith of Newfield Cobb of Durham & Allen of Sedgwick.

Agreeably to assignment the House proceeded by ballot to the election on their part of a Major General for the second Division of the Militia of this State - The whole number of ballots given was One hundred and thirty eight - necessary to a choice seventy. Col. Joseph Chandler of Augusta had seventy seven and he was declared duly elected on the part of the House and in concurrence with the Senate.
