duly elected a Senator to represent this State in the Congress of the United States from and after the third day of March next - on the part of the House - and the Clerk informed the Senate thereof by message.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence directing the Secretary of State to notify the Governor, that the Legislature on the fifteenth inst. by a concurrent vote of the Senate and House of Representatives, elected John Holmes of Alfred a Senator in the Congress of the United States to fill the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Albion K Parris and that the Governor be requested to furnish him with the certificates and testimonials of his election to enable him to take his seat in the Senate of the United States - and the House concurred.

An order came from the Senate for concurrence directing the Secretary of State forthwith to notify David Crowell of Whitfield in the County of Lincoln that he has this day by a joint ballot of the two Houses of the Legislature been elected a Counsellor to advise the Governor in the executive part of the Government the current political year and request his immediate attendance at the Council Board - and the House concurred.

Bill to incorporate the Alfred Academy, reported in this House by the Committee on Literature &c , was read 1st & 2d time & tomorrow at 10 o clock assigned for a 3d reading.

Resolve, "An additional Resolve for opening & clearing the road from the South line of Township number two, old Indian Purchase, on the East side of Penobscot River, to the Mattanawcook Stream, and for the relief of certain persons, laid on the table by Mr Kent of Bangor on leave first had & obtained, was read & referred to the Committee on State Lands. Sent up for concurrence.
