On motion of Mr Vance of Baring, Ordered, That the Committee on State Lands take into consideration the lands belonging to the Passamaquoddy Indians on Schoodic River, and report by Resolve, or otherwise, in what way said land can be disposed of for the benefit or use of said Indians - read & passed. Sent up for concurrence.

Report of the Committee on the Order to inquire into the expediency of altering the law respecting trespasses committed by certain officers in the execution of their duty, that legislation is inexpedient on the subject, came down accepted in Senate for concurrence - and the House concurred.

Petition of Leonard Jarvis & als of Ellsworth & Surry to be incorporated by the name of the Ellsworth Mutual Fire Insurance Company, was read & referred to the committee on Banks & Banking. Sent up for concurrence.

The committee on Bills in the third reading reported as duly engrossed Bill - repealing part of an Act to establish Dameriscotta [Damariscotta] Canal - - repealing the several acts now in force relating to Hogshead Shooks - which were severally passed to be enacted. Sent up for concurrence

The House took up the consideration of the Bill to annex a part of the town of Surry to the town of Ellsworth - the question being "Shall the Bill pass to a third reading" - and after a discussion of the subject the question prevailed to give the Bill a third reading, and Monday next was assigned for that purpose at 11 o'clock.

Memorial of Gamaliel E Smith on the subject of the construction of the Militia in relation to Staff Officers &c was read & referred to Messrs Clark of Hallowell Kidder of Milburne & Hubbard of Cornish.
