Bill - making Stockholders competent witnesses in certain cases, came down amended in its title & in several of its provisions - The House adopted the proposed amendments of the Senate and passed the Bill to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate

Bill - incorporating the Maine Congregational Charitable Society, was read 1st & 2nd time & tomorrow at 10 o clock assigned for a 3d reading.

Bill - limiting the tenure of office of the Adjutant General was read 1st & 2nd time & tomorrow at 10 o clock assigned for a 3d reading.

Resolve to prevent depredations on the public Lands, came down in a new draft referred to the committee on State Lands for concurrence - and the House concurred.

Report on petition of Samuel Payson & als, referring the same to the next Legislature, was read & accepted in concurrence with the Senate.

Bill - for the further improvement & preservation of Highways was read a third time & passed to be engrossed as amended. Sent up for concurrence.

Bill - additional to an act directing the method of laying out, & making provision for the repair and amendment of Highways was called up & further considered - when Mr McCobb moved to strike out the first Section of the Bill - and after much discussion the motion prevailed & thereupon on motion of Mr Ruggles of Thomaston the subject was indefinitely postponed. Sent up for concurrence.
