116 enquire into the expediency of assessors exempting from taxation old and infirm persons and by so doing deprive them of the right of suffrage

On motion of Mr Ludden Ordered that Messrs Ludden, Porter and Higgins be a Committee on enquire into the expediency of passing a law to abolish the Courts of Common Please and Office of Sheriff and provide a substitute for the same to report by bill or otherwise.

The Committee on Engrossed Bills reported as duly engrossed A Resolve in favor of Nathaniel Haskell An Additional Resolve respecting the dividing line between Gray and Windham An Additional Resolve relating to the Mattanawcook road which were severally finally passed - sent up for concurrence.

The same Committee reported as duly engrossed, A Bill to increase the Capital Stock of Bangor Commercial Bank, which was passed to be enacted sent up for concurrence.

An Order came from the Senate for concurrence appointing Messrs Burnham and Hunton a Committee with such as the House may join to take into consideration the expediency of enacting a law authorizing towns to appropriate their Ministerial funds to the use of primary Schools, with instructions to report by bill or otherwise, and the House concurred and joined Messrs. Jordan, Springer and Jenkins -
