A communication was read by the President from the Augusta Union Society, tendering to the Members the use of the Reading room or Atheneum, during the session.

On motion of Mr Gardiner, the vote where by the Senate assigned this day at eleven o'clock for the choice of a Chaplain or Chaplains was reconsidered

On motion of Mr Ingalls, Ordered, that the several licensed Clergymen in the town of Augusta be invited to officiate as Chaplains of the Senate in relation according to seniority.

Ordered that Messrs Scammon and Thompson be a committee to notify the Clergymen of Augusta of the passage of the above order.

Order from the House of Representatives appointing Messes Steele of Brownfield, Smith of Westbrook, and Wade of Woolwich with such as the Senate may join a committee to engage some suitable gentleman of legal attainments to draft Bills and Resolves for the Legislature the present Session, came up for concurrence, and the Senate concurred; and Messrs Talbot and Smith were joined.

On motion of Mr Ingalls, Ordered, that there be appointed a Committee of the two Houses to be denominated, the Joint Standing Committee on the Public buildings. Sent down for concurrence Concurred.
