269 The conferees appointed on the part of the House on the subject of differences between the two branches of the Legislature relative to the Bill establishing a Ferry at Bowman's Point report that they have met the conferees on the part of the Senate - not being convinced by any considerations suggested of the expediency of establishing said Ferry they respectfully recommend to the House an adherence to the vote indefinitely postponing the bill - which report was read and accepted.

Mr. Hyde of Bath was added to the committee on Finance in place of Mr. Jarvis excused.

On motion of Mr. Jarvis of Ellsworth Ordered that the Joint Standing committee on the Judiciary be directed to enquire into the expediency of this State proposing to the United States to assume the support of the United States Military Road from and after the first day of January next on condition, that the United States put the same in a state of repair the present season - Read and passed, sent up for concurrence.

An order requiring of the Treasurer of the trustees of the Medical school at Bowdoin College a statement of the expenditures from the Appropriations made by the Legislature of this State was read and passed in concurrence with the Senate - sent up.
