Agreeably to assignment the two branches of the Legislature met in convention in the Representatives Hall for the purpose of filling the vacancy in the tenth Senatorial District occasioned by the resignation of Drummond Farnsworth. Messrs. Bridgham and Porter of the Senate, Spaulding, Webster and Buxton of the House were appointed a committee to receive sort and count the votes for a senator to fill said vacancy who attended to the duty assigned them and reported that the whole number of votes given in was one hundred and fifty five - necessary to constitute an election seventy eight - John Reid had one hundred and forty two and was declared elected, and the convention separated.

Bill additional directing the method of laying out and making provision for the repair and amendment of highways and providing for the appointment of County Commissioners was read a first and second time, Monday next at half past two P.M. assigned for a third reading and 400 copies ordered to be printed for the use of the Legislature.

Petition of John Hobbs for increase of pension was read and referred to the committee on Military Pensions

Petition of P. Soule, and others for a state road in the County of Somerset was read and referred to the committee on State Roads - sent up for concurrence.
