On motion of Mr. Talbot Ordered that all Messages between the two houses of the Legislature be communicated by the Secretary of the Senate and Clerk of the House of Representatives, and that all papers be transmitted by them or their Assistants. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

On motion of Mr Burnham Ordered, that Messrs Burnham, Boutelle and Talbot be a Committee to prepare Rules and orders for the government of the Senate during the present year.

On motion of Mr. Gibson, ordered that the Secretary of the Senate prepare twenty four tickets with numbers corresponding with the numbers of the respective seats at the Senate Board excepting One, two, twenty five, twenty eight, twenty nine and thirty, and permit each member to draw one of said numbers, and the numbers thus drawn, shall designate the seat which each member shall occupy during the Session.

Ordered that the Senate now proceed to the choice of a Messenger, and Messrs Davis, Herrick and Hamlin. being appointed a Committee to receive sort, and count the votes reported that the whole number given in was 23 Necessary to a choice 12 Samuel Eaton had 14 Joseph Young " 5 Charles Morris " 3 Mr Ricker 1 Samuel Eaton was thereupon declared elected.
