Thursday January 3d 1833

A message was received from the House informing the Senate of the organisation of the House of Representatives by the choice of Nathan Clifford Esquire, Speaker and Asaph R. Nichols, Clerk.

On motion of Mr Keith, Ordered, that Messrs. Keith and Cogswell be a Committee with such as the House shall join to engage some suitable Gentleman of legal attainments, to draft Bills and Resolves for the Legislature the present Session. Sent down for concurrence. Came up concurred and Messrs. Barnard of Alna, Pierce of Portland and Woodman of Buxton were joined on the part of the House.

On motion of Mr Talbot, Ordered, that Messrs Talbot McLellan and Pease be a Committee to enquire into the expediency of removing a part or all the railing in rear of the Senate Board.

On motion of Mr. Bradbury, Ordered that Messrs. Bradbury, Warren and Burnham be a Committee to enquire into the expediency of allowing Charles Morris compensation for his services and expences as Messenger at the present session.

On motion of Mr Hamlin, Ordered that when the Senate adjourn, it adjourn to meet at half past nine o'clock tomorrow morning.
