Bill to establish the compensation of County Commissioners of the County of Somersett, Bill to annex to the town of Brunswick a tract of land now lying in Freeport, were severally read and tomorrow at ten o'clock assigned for a second reading.

Bill to repeal an Act incorporating the Methodist Society in Winthrop. Read a second time and recommitted to the Joint Standing Committee on Parishes. Sent down for concurrence.

Mr Boutelle from the Joint Standing Committee on the Judiciary, reported that legislating is inexpedient, on an order directing them to enquire into the expediency of amending the sixth section of an Act entitled an act ascertaining what shall constitute a legal settlement and providing for the relief, support, employment and removal of the poor, Also on an Order directing them to enquire into the expediency of so amending the act entitled an Act respecting Houses of correction &c as to limit the period in which it shall be duty of the Court of Sessions in every County in this State to erect, build, or otherwise provide a House of Correction at the charge and for the use of each of the Counties; which reports were read and accepted Sent down for concurrence.

The same Gentleman from the same Committee reported leave to withdraw on the petitions of Micah C. Foster and also William N. Miller which were severally read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence.
