A message was received from the House informing the Senate, that the House have receded from the vote whereby they refused a passage to the resolve in favor of Elisha Hilton, and passed the same to be engrossed in concurrence with the Senate.

Resolve providing for ascertaining the quality of the soil, the growth of timber and the geology of certain tracts of the public lands. Resolve to increase the yearly compensation of the Register of Probate of the County of Kennebec; Resolve in favor of Charles Morris; were severally read a second time and passed to be engrossed. Sent down for concurrence.

Resolve relative to the claim of Samuel Searle; read once, and indefinitely postponed Sent down for concurrence.

The committee on Engrossed Bills reported as correctly engrossed, Bill in addition to an Act to incorporate the City of Portland; and the same was passed to be enacted
