Mr. Farnsworth from the Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges and Canals, to which was referred the petition of the town of Westbrook praying for the passage of a law in relation to the making of County roads, made a report asking leave to be discharged from the further consideration thereof, and that the same be referred to the Committee that have that subject under consideration, read & accepted. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

The same gentleman from the same Committee, to which was referred a Resolve repealing a Resolve relating to the time of making Highways in the County of Waldo, made a report, asking leave to be discharged from the further consideration thereof, and that the same be referred to the Joint Select Committee that have that subject under consideration, read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence.

On motion of Mr. Bradbury, the following preamble and order were introduced, to wit; Whereas the fourth section of the tenth article of the Constitution, provides, that whenever two thirds of both Houses of the Legislature shall deem it necessary, they may propose amendments to the Constitution, and whenever any amendments shall be so agreed upon, a Resolution shall be passed, and sent to the Selectmen of the several towns, and the Assessors of the several plantations, empowering and directing them to notify the inhabitants of their respective towns & plantations in the manner prescribed by law at their next annual meeting in the month of September, to give in their votes on the question, whether such amendments shall be made; and if it shall appear that a majority of the inhabitants voting on the question, are in favor of such amendments, it shall become a part of said Constitution.
