Address of the President Pro tem. Gentlemen of the Senate, Called upon unexpectedly to occupy the place of the presiding officer of this Board, I should be wanting in sensibility not to appreciate your kindness, and in gratitude not to express my thanks for the distinction you have conferred on me. Unskilled as I am in presiding over a deliberative assembly, I must, gentlemen, bespeak in advance your indulgence, for any mistakes, or unintentional errors I may commit in the discharge of the duties devolving upon me by accepting the office, to which your suffrages have called me; and shall confidently expect your assistance in every case where it may be necessary. Under these impressions, I accept the office, & shall endeavor to perform the services incident, to the extent of my ability.

On motion of Mr. Prescott, the Senate reconsider the vote whereby the Bill to incorporate the Nequemkeag Mill Dam Company was passed to be engrossed, of which the House was informed by message, and their concurrence requested. Concurred. The Senate further amend said Bill and pass the same to be engrossed as thus amended. Sent down for concurrence.

The Senate reconsider the vote passing to be engrossed Bill relative to the Inspection of Stone Lime & Lime Casks, and recommit the same. Sent down for concurrence.

Mr. Cobb from the Committee on Incorporation of Towns, reported order of notice on petition of sundry inhabitants of Otisfield, Harrison, Bridgton, Sebago & Raymond, also, on petition of Samuel Andrews and others; severally read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence.
