Mr. Farnsworth from the Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges and Canals reported order of notice on petition of Nathaniel Merrill and others; read and accepted. Sent down for concurrence.

Bill to incorporate the town of Barnard, reported by Mr. Cobb from the Committee on Incorporation of Towns, to which said Bill had been recommitted read a second time and passed to be engrossed. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Bill to establish the County of Casco, reported by Mr. Bradbury from the Committee on the Division and Alteration of Counties, to which was referred petitions of the inhabitants of several towns in the County of Lincoln; Also the petitions of several towns in the County of Cumberland, was read once, and a motion was made by Mr. Cobb that the report and accompanying papers be recommitted with instructions to report an order of notice to be served on the Town Clerks of the several towns within the contemplated County, returnable to the next Legislature which question being ordered to be taken by Yeas and nays was decided in the negative, as follows, to wit. Yeas, Messrs. Bridgham, Brown, Cobb, Emmons, Howard Kelsey, Labaree, Porter, Smith and Tobin - 10 Nays, Messrs. Allen, Bradbury, Cogswell, Chandler Farnham, Farnsworth, Groton, Knowlton, Pease, Rogers and Williamson - 11 and a week from next Wednesday was assigned for a second reading.

Petition of Moses Sweat for aid for Parsonsfield Seminary, read and referred to the Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions in concurrence.
