A Communication from the Secretary of State submitting a list of the towns and plantations from which no returns were received within the time specified in an act passed March 4, 1833, came up from the House referred to the Committee on the Judiciary; read and referred in concurrence.

Petition of Sarson Chase Jr. and others to build a Bridge across the Androscoggin River between Turner and Leeds, " of James Starr and others for a Bridge over the Androscoggin River at Jay, " of Archibald D. Atwood and others for a pier and Warehouse Company, Remonstrance of Silas Lewis and others against the building of a bridge over Eastern River were severally read and referred to the Committee on Turnpikes, Bridges & Canals in concurrence.

Petition of William Cole and others for the abolition of the office of General Inspector of Stone Lime and Lime Casks was read and referred to the Committee that have that subject under consideration, in concurrence.

Petition of John Blunt and others to be incorporated into a Benevolent Society, was read and referred to the Committee on Literature and Literary Institutions in concurrence.

Petition of William Coolidge and others to be incorporated into a Mining Company, was read and referred to the Committee on Manufactures in concurrence.

Petition of sundry inhabitants of Vinalhaven for a law that Magdalen Herrings may be branded as such.
