Resolve establishing a Board of Internal Improvements was taken up. Mr. Bradbury proposed to amend, by striking out the words "Nor shall any person be a Commissioner who is engaged, directly or indirectly in speculating in said lands, or timber"; and the question of adopting said amendment, being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the negative, as follows, to wit. Yeas, Messrs. Bradbury, Knowlton, Pease, Pierce and Williamson, - 5. Nays. Messrs. Allen, Bridgham, Brown, Chandler, Cobb, Emmons, Farnham, Farnsworth, Frye, Groton, Howard, Kelsey, Labaree, Manning, Prescott, Rogers, Smith and Tobin - 18.

Mr. Knowlton proposed to amend by striking out the word "Five", and insert in lieu thereof the word "Three", and the question of thus amending, being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the negative, as follows, to wit. Yeas. Messrs. Allen, Bradbury, Knowlton, Prescott, and Tobin - 5. Nays. Messrs. Bridgham, Brown, Cobb, Chandler, Emmons, Farnham, Farnsworth, Frye, Groton, Howard Kelsey, Labaree, Manning, Pease, Pierce, Porter, Rogers, Smith, and Williamson - 19.
