Bill to organize, govern and discipline the Militia of this State, was taken up, and sundry amendments adopted; Mr. Knowlton moved to further amend by striking out the words "Ten cents a mile for travel" in the 41st Section, 5th and 6th lines, and insert in lieu thereof "Eight Cents a mile for travel"; and the question of adopting said amendment, being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the negative as follows, to wit; Yeas, Messrs. Allen, Farnham, and Knowlton 3. Nays, Messrs. Bridgham, Brown, Cobb, Chandler Farnsworth, Frye, Groton, Kelsey, Labaree, Manning Pease, Pierce, Porter, Prescott, Smith, Tobin and Williamson - 17.

The same gentleman proposed to amend by striking out "Fifty cents" in the Eighth line of the Twenty Eighth Section, and insert in lieu thereof, "One Dollar and Fifty Cents", and the question of adopting said amendment, being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays was decided in the negative as follows, to wit; Yeas, Messrs. Farnsworth and Knowlton 2. Nays, Messrs Allen, Bradbury, Bridgham, Brown, Cobb, Chandler, Farnsworth, Frye, Groton, Kelsey, Labaree, Manning, Pease, Pierce, Porter, Prescott, Rogers, Smith, Tobin and Williamson - 20.

Mr. Prescott moved to amend by striking out all that part of Section Twenty One from the Ninth line, to the proviso in the sixty second line, and the question of adopting said amendment, being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the negative as follows, to wit; Yeas, Messrs. Farnham, Knowlton, Prescott and Williamson - 4. Nays, Messrs. Allen, Bridgham, Brown, Chandler, Farnsworth, Frye, Groton, Kelsey, Labaree, Manning, Pease, Pierce, Porter, Rogers, Smith
