259. Order from the House of Representatives instructing the Committee on the Judiciary to inquire into the expediency of providing by law for the prevention of delay and defeat of Justice in the prosecution and punishment of Criminals by authorizing amendments in Criminal processes in matters of form read and passed, in concurrence.

Bill in addition to an Act regulating Judicial process and proceedings, was read the second time and the same, on motion of Mr. Barnard, was ordered to lie on the table till tomorrow at ten o'clock.

Resolve in favor of Daniel Coney and others was taken up; and the question of passing the same to be engrossed, being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the affirmative, as follows, to wit: Yeas. Messrs. Allen, Barnard, Burnham, Chandler, Clark, Emmons, Farnham, Fish, F. Greene, C. Greene, Mantor, Miller, McIntire, McLellan, O'Brien, Prescott, Randall, and Read, 18. Nays. Messrs. Bartlett, Brown, Latham, Pierce, Purinton and Smith, 6. Sent down for concurrence. Concurred.

Bill additional to an Act regulating Judicial Process and Proceedings (introduced in the House) was read once and committed to the Committee on the Judiciary, in concurrence.

Bill to protect persons from damage in their mowing, gardens, tillage and other improved lands and concerning stray Beasts (introduced in the House) was read and referred to the Committee on Agriculture, in concurrence.
