16. An order came from the Senate appointing Messrs Talbot, Merrow & Latham with such as the House may join a Committee to wait on Robert P. Dunlap and inform him, that he has been elected by the people Governor of the State of Maine for the current political year; and that the two Houses of the Legislature are ready to convene in the Representatives Hall, that in the their presence he may take and subscribe the oaths of office required by the Constitution - and the House concurred and Messrs Shaw of Sanford, Stone of Brunswick, Tibbets of Lisbon, Gordon of Belfast & Chadwick of Gardiner were joined on the part of the House.

The Committee appointed to wait on Robert P. Dunlap Governor elect, and notify him of his election & reported that the had attended to the duties assigned them, and that the Governor answered that he would accept the office, & meet the two Houses and take & subscribe the qualifying oaths whenever they should convene in the Representatives Hall for that purpose.

A message was received from the Senate proposing a Convention forthwith in the Representatives Chamber for the purpose of administering to the Governor elect, the oaths of office, and the House concurred & the Clerk acquainted the Senate therewith

The Senators immediately came in, and a Convention was formed accordingly.

On motion by Mr Clark of the Senate, Ordered, That a message be sent to the Governor to inform him that the two houses are now assembled for the purpose of administering to him the oaths required by the Constitution to qualify him to enter upon the discharge of his official duties - and
