Monday, March 14, 1836.

Ordered from the House of Representatives, directing the Secretary of State to cause to be printed forthwith 300 copies of an Act entitled "an Act defining certain rights and duties of Rail Road Corporations," passed at the present session and distribute the same among the members of the Legislature - read and passed in concurrence.

The Senate, on motion of Mr. Clark reconsider their vote of the 22d. of February whereby they referred to the Committee on Rail Roads and Canals, in concurrence, the petition of Wheeler and Pirkins and others, praying to be incorporated by the name of the Clinton Company for the purpose of Manufacturing Lumber, - and refer the same to the Committee on Manufactures.

Sent down for concurrence.

Bill to establish a Seminary for the purpose of promoting useful learning, and the better qualifying primary School Teachers was taken up and read the second time.

Mr. Latham moved the indefinite postponement of said Bill; and the question of postponing indefinitely, being ordered to be taken by yeas and nays, was decided in the negative, as follows, to wit:

Yeas. Messrs, Greene, Latham, Mantor, McIntire Merrow, Miller, Spear, Strickland and Swift, 9.

Nays. Messrs. Allen, Benson, Clark, Fish, Frye, Jarvis, Jewett, Kelsey, Pierce, Purrington, Robinson, Severance, Talbot and Weeks, 14.

Mr. Miller moved to amend by adding a new section as follows, to wit:
