[page 561] During the time that he was approaching me having his hand hold of the mans coat collar, he pulled him down; and by the time he was on his feet I managed to get up to this attendant and patient. I shook my head to the attendant signifying that I didn't want him to abuse him, and he stopped. I saw the man was some what dirty on the front of his clothes, and I brushed his clothes. I advised this man to go down quietly with the attendant to the hospital. This man hadn't been at the hospital but two days. That was in the summer of 1873, I should say the middle part of the summer. Q. Did the attendant throw him down? A. The attendant had his hand back of his collar and pulled him down. I didnt know but that he refused to walk, or something of that kind, why he did it. Q. Did you ever know of any other case of actual abuse? A. I dont know whether you would call it a case of abuse or not; but I will state this case.
