[page 25] Q. Up to when? A. The last of October. Q. Did you bring a bill into the trustees in reference to this water matter? A. I did. Q. What was that bill? A. It was a bill for bringing water; supplying private halls with water from the 5th Sept. until the 27th Oct. Q. How large was the bill? A. I didnt carry out my bill. I just made a statement of how many pails of water I carried Q. How many were there at that time? A. 550. Q. That you had to carry up during that time? A. Yes sir. Q. Can you form any general estimate of how much you carried up before that time? A. No sir. Q. Was it any where near as much, or half? A. I think it was about the same, but I could not say for certain. Mr. Morrill:- How many flights of stairs did you say? A. Some times three, always two. Mr. Hill:- It seems to me it is unnecessary to take up much time on the water. It was admitted I believe, on all hands that there was a scarcity there during that time Dr. Butler:- I want to say there was only about fifteen days that there was an absolute want of water I want to know where that water was. We find it was not used for these ordinary purposes
