Mr William Carleton Sir The taxes on Mr Erwins' land this year are - if that [?] four Dollars + forty six cents, which are [something stricken] payable by 1st Sept. The Collector says he shall enforce the collection of all taxes as soon as they are payable + if you send me the money by that time I will see Them Discharged. To make even change, I charge [something stricken] fifty four cents for seeing to the business this year, so that you may conveniently send it for the whole in a five Dollar bill -- Respectfully yours abt [?] M.G.
