William Carleton Esq Sir Yours of the 6th was recd yesterday + I have not yet ascertained what [?] the moment you can get for the land -- nor whether any thanks to my [?] than I mentioned, but will do it soon -- One person who has bought other land adjoining [something stricken] for 50 cents per acre, on long credit, would buy yours also if he could have it at the same price, but would not be willing to give much if any more -- Another I think will give 75 cents but whether any more is yet uncertain - perhaps if he does that + pays the taxes for this year it will be as much as he will do -- There is no money here now, + I think that next June as soon as any here will be able to make any payments -- I thank you to [?] some time this month or early in Sept. but [?] not know at what time perhaps a day or two beforehand. If I know seasonably I will write you that we may meet there if convenient to you, [?] this may be very uncertain, perhaps it would be as well for you to make your deed to Mr Starrett or some other person in Bangor or perhaps [?] [inserted] that he may be able to convey it to whoever purchases when I go there as I am able I shall take with me his notes + securities [?] to exchange for the deed [inserted] if I [something stricken] may [inserted] the largest with him before I go down, which I shall try to do if possible. Respectfully your obdt servt M.G.
