Camden Janury 1 1829 Moses Greenleaf Esqu Dear Sir not having any thing from you for sum time I take the liberty to enquire about the taxes on Mr. Ewins land for the year 1828 which I beleve is not Paid will you be good enough to inform me of the amount & I expect that Messers Hill & Starrett of Bangor would pay you the amount if you should hapen at Bangor or Camden with out puting you to much troble I lade your statement before Mr. Ewins in regard to purchasing the land & he said that he thought he could not comply with it but said he would write you on the subject which I presume he did Yours Respectfully William Carleton Rec'd & answered 5 th Feby 1829
