26 Leesburg & Edwards Ferry

22d We fell back near the town in the A.M. I saw Sidney and Prentis. In the P.M. we fell back to the old ground in the rear of Aldee [Aldie] and camped for the night.

23d A quiet within hearing distence

24th I went on guard in the morning. the regt went on picket at night and I went with them.

25th We come off picket.

26th We marched to Leesburg and across the Potomac at Edwards Fary [Edward's Ferry] and marched three miles up the river and camped.

27th We lay in camp near Fredrick City Maryland and drew clothing.

28th We had an inspection.

29th We marched threw Fredrick and Liberty and towards Union and camped for the night. Charles Proctor of Co H is carrying the regimental flag. He gets a plenty of liquor on the way and gets drunk and abuses the officers and falls out after the flag is taken from him. The rear guard tryes to keep him up but finally has to leave him behind.
