84 A flag of truce

July 31st A fair morning. All quiet in front of us. A little picket firing in the ninth corps. The rebs are on their fort in front of us repairing the damage done by our artillery in yesterday's engagement. This afternoon our folks sent in a flag of truce to take of our wounded and bury our dead between our lines, and the rebs went to headquarters to see if the privalage should be granted.

While they wer gone our folks wer permited cary our wounded mates but would not let them be helped off. The flag is in sight of us and it looks as though they wer burying the dead or lugging the wounded but we cant tell.

Aug 1st Our regt went on picket last evening. All quiet on the line in our front. The flag of truce was granted and our killed and wounded wer cared for. The pay rolls came and we signed them.

2d We wer paid for four months $74.
