Battle of Reams Station 93
at them but did no damage. We thought the rebs wer coming but soon learned what was up. A heavy shower in the evening. Heavy firing comensed on the extream left of our line at or near Reems Station [Ream's Station] about 4 o'clock P.M. lasting until dark. It proved to be between the 2nd corps and the rebs in force. It was a sharp engagement but as near as I can find out our folks cut them up badly for they seemed detirmined to beat us, and charged on our boys three times behind brestworks. In the night the 2d corps fell back as they had [?] the ground as long as required. We [?] a vital spot for the Petersburg folks when we took the railroad, and they will try hard to get it again.
26th One man thought he seen some thing in the night and fired. We moved to the extreem left of the brigade.
27th A verry heavy wind. Cleared off threw the day
28th Nothing of importence today.
29th We are still fortifying on this line. One year more for Uncle Sam.
30th The muster rolls was made out today.
