94 Fixing up quarters
Aug 31st We wer mustered today. Orders to move at 4 o'clock P.M..
September 1st 1864. Marching order countermanded. We lay [laid] out streets and changed our tents. I was called back to fix up the majors quarters. Picket firing comensed on our left and we wer under marching orders in a few minutes. Eight reb cavelry wer captured and the firing seased. I was called back to finish my job.
2d I went on picket in the morning. The cavelry made a reconaicence out in front of us, driving rebs three miles, and into thair works and returned without any loss. Sidney came out to the picket line to see me. I went back to his regt with him to see the bay
3d We we relieved in the morning and returned to camp. 4th Sunday. Devine service at four o'clock P.M. by Rev Charles H Stevens, one of the Christian Commission. A very smart man.
