12.19--Commission to Reconstruct the Laws Relating to Fisheries and the Protection of Fish. Created by R. 1877, c. 212.

Duties--codify, amend or add to the laws relating to game, to fisheries, to the protection and propagation of fish, to open fishways through dams and other obstructions, and to the end that all portions of the State benefit by the culture and propagation of fish.

Members--5 appointed by the Governor.

12.20--Fish Wardens. Created by P.L. 1878, c. 75, § 8. Name changed to inland Fish and Game Wardens by P.L. 1899, c. 42, § 47.

Duties--enforce all laws relating to inland fisheries and game, all rules and regulations pertaining thereto; arrest violators thereof, and prosecute all offenses against the same.

Additional information--jurisdiction of Fish Wardens extend by P.L. 1880, c. 208, § 2.

Duties--supervise all fisheries and their products taken from tide waters within the State, including enforcement of all laws relating to catching, packing, curing, manufacturing, branding, transportation of pickled, salt, smoked, fresh, canned, frozen, shell or other fish--P.L. 1901; supervise, administer, and enforce R.S. 1964; report biennially to Governor and Council; exercise all the powers of Coastal Wardens; examine and close shore, waters, or flats; make regulations to conserve marine species; publish biennial reports of laws.--M.R.S.A. 1964.
