� 30.02 -- Agents to Collect Claims Assigned by Commonwealth of Massachusetts. [underlined] Created by R. 1823, c. 42.

Duties -- collect all claims on Massachusetts of Justices of the Peace, clerks of the several courts, County Attorneys, sheriffs and jailers; report to the Governor and Council an accurate account of sums received by them for each county.

Members -- 2 from each county appointed by the Governor.

30.03 -- County Commissioners. [underlined] Created by P. L. 1831, c. 500, § 1.

Duties -- provide for erecting and repairing of courthouses, jails and other necessary public buildings for use of the county; make estimates to be laid before the Legislature of the sums necessary to be assessed for defraying county charges; take necessary and legal measures apportioning and assessing same; examine, allow and settle all accounts of receipts and expenditures of moneys of the county; represent their respective counties; administer county property and the management of county business and con-cerns; appoint an agent to sell and dispose of any county real estate; lay out, alter or discontinue highways or other way; award damages occasioned thereby; do anything else authorized by the laws of this State.
