68 July 31st
I was on guard to day. come off guard at night. Cannons has been fired to day. every half hour and to night 36 guns was fired to the Memory of Martin Van Buren Ex Presedent of the United States who died July 24th 1862. I wrote a letter to Skowhegan Maine to day.
August 1st
We formed a line this morning at 6 oclock and was reviewed by General Pope. In the after noon we drew some carbines and drilled with them and fired at the taget. at 6 oclock we had a dress parade.
69 August 2nd In the fore noon we drilled in the after noon 2 Companies of us. Co H and G went to Warrenton got there at 6 oclock. I do not know how long we are going to stay here.
August 3rd Sunday morning we had an Inspection at 9 oclock and a drill with our Carbines. I got my Ambro type taken to day. I am detailed to go on Patrol guard to morrow.
August 4
I was ordly for Col [illegible] carry dispatches to day. I went to Waterloo and I went out too some Battries with despatches
