Tuesday Noon. 5th Oct./52. Your letter came to hand this morning. I would not leave the Store without notifying the Firm, & without giving a [start underline] good reason. But don't leave suddenly, or without a good understanding. Do every thing manfully & honorably, so that you won't be ashamed to meet them again. Mother accords with me, after reading your letters, in my advice, not to leave the store without an explicit & honorable understanding with all concerned.
