Prescott Newman & Benj M Whitney were enlisted by me and are now in co G-17th Maine Volunteers. B.G. Ames & Prescott Newman are first an (sp) Lieutenants Also Jack D Moulton (?) & Daniel R Quimby enlisted with capt Daniel Marston and are in the 16th Maine Volunteers Truly Yours Seward Dill [Written on lined paper.
