RESULTS With increasing wavelength and pressure, a significant transmission increase of the eyewall could be achieved (p less then 0.05). At 400nm and 132mmHg the transmission raised to 0.10%. At 1050nm it increased up to a value of 12.22%. In the visible spectrum, the direct transmission was always below 3.17%. The differences in eyewall transmission of eyes with different iris colors were significant at low pressure. With increasing pressure, the effect strength decreased and the differences lost their significance. CONCLUSIONS The pressure and wavelength dependent direct transmission of the eyewall and the vitreous body significantly increased with increasing pressure. This results are benefical for technical and clinical safety, research and development of illumination devices. It is necessary to know the intraocular brightness in the eye during diaphanoscopy, photocoagulation application to determine hazards. BACKGROUND Cannabis use is increasing in the United States. Prior work suggests tobacco use in pregnancy is much more common among those with depression. It is not known whether cannabis use is also more common among this especially vulnerable group. Identifying those at highest risk for cannabis use is required to direct prevention and intervention efforts. METHODS Data were drawn from the 2005-2018 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), an annual, cross-sectional sample of persons ages 12 and older representative of the US. The prevalence of past-30-day cannabis use by depression status (past-12-month) and by sociodemographic factors and perception of risk associated with cannabis use was estimated among pregnant women. click here RESULTS Cannabis use was significantly more common among pregnant women with, compared to without, depression (12.7 % vs. 3.7 %; odds ratio (OR) = 3.8 (95 % confidence interval 2.8, 5.0)). This was the case across all sociodemographic subgroups. The relationship between depression and cannabis use was significantly stronger among those who perceived moderate-great risk (OR = 6.9 (3.7, 13.0)) compared with no risk (OR = 1.6 (1.1, 2.4); Pint = 0.0003) associated with regular use. CONCLUSIONS Women with depression are more than three times more likely to use cannabis during pregnancy. Disparities in cannabis use among pregnant women by depression status appear to be echoing trends in tobacco use. Education about risks associated with cannabis use in pregnancy and prevention, akin to those for prenatal tobacco use, may be needed among pregnant women who are depressed to stem this increase and potentially growing disparity. Until recently, endocytic trafficking and its regulators were thought to function almost exclusively on membrane-bound organelles and/or vesicles containing a lipid bilayer. Recent studies have demonstrated that endocytic regulatory proteins play much wider roles in trafficking regulation and influence a variety of nonendocytic pathways, including trafficking to/from mitochondria and peroxisomes. Moreover, new studies also suggest that endocytic regulators also control trafficking to and from cellular organelles that lack membranes, such as the centrosome. Although endocytic membrane trafficking (EMT) clearly impacts pathways downstream of the centrosome, such as ciliogenesis (including transport to and from cilia), mitotic spindle formation, and cytokinesis, relatively few studies have focused on the growing role for EMT more directly on centrosome biogenesis, maintenance and control throughout cell cycle, and centrosome duplication. Indeed, a growing number of endocytic regulatory proteins have been implicated in centrosome regulation, including various Rab proteins (among them Rab11) and the leucine-rich repeat kinase 2. In this review, we will examine the relationship between centrosomes and EMT, focusing primarily on how EMT directly influences the centrosome. The raccoon (Procyon lotor) is a species native to North America, but which is now spreading throughout Europe. Raccoons have been found to host various Trichinella species. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effectiveness of using immunological testing of meat juice for determining the occurrence of Trichinella in raccoons. The studies were carried out on 139 animals from three European countries the Czech Republic, Germany and Poland. Seven meat juice samples were found to be positive for antibodies to Trichinella by ELISA, and another seven were unclear. The ELISA results were confirmed by immunoblot anti-Trichinella antibodies were identified in 9.35 % of the examined animals. Slight agreement (κ = 0.13) was found between the digestion method and the combined ELISA and immunoblot approach. From the results of our study, we concluded that meat juice may be used as a simple and convenient sample for detection of anti-Trichinella in racoons. INTRODUCTION AND AIMS There is no systematized information for determining/monitoring the burden of inflammatory bowel disease in Mexico. The aim of the present study was to estimate the annual burden of inflammatory bowel disease on the Mexican National Healthcare System, by number of patients seen, hospitalizations, and specific deaths, stratified into age groups. MATERIALS AND METHODS Utilizing specific databases of the Mexican National Healthcare System registries coded as ICD-10 K50 and K51, we retrieved and analyzed the data corresponding to the patients seen and hospitalized in 2015, stratified by age group, as well as the specific deaths. Treatment trends among physicians were also examined. RESULTS In 2015, 5,009 women (8.1) and 4,944 men (8.4) with Crohn's disease received medical attention (prevalence of cases seen) and 35.1% of those patients were ≥50years of age. In that same period, 17,177 women (27.7) and 15,883 men (26.9) with ulcerative colitis were seen and 31.6% of those patients were ≥50years of age. The hospitalized cases (prevalence of hospitalized cases) were 1,097 patients (0.91) with Crohn's disease and 43.7% of those patients were ≥50years of age; and 5,345 patients (4.42) with ulcerative colitis and 47.6% of those patients were ≥50years of age. Deaths (specific mortality rate) were 32 women (0.52) and 36 men (0.50) due to Crohn's disease, and 267 women (4.31) and 186 men (3.15) due to ulcerative colitis. CONCLUSIONS Inflammatory bowel disease is a burden on the health of Mexican adults and the Mexican National Healthcare System, and it is expected to increase over the next 15years.
