Fluorescence imaging assay also indicated that probe 1 had a good fluorescence imaging effect on Cu2+ in living cells. Furthermore, probe 1 had showed no cytotoxicity and good BBB permeability. These results indicated that probe 1 had potential diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, and can be used as the multifunctional theranostic agent for AD.Cysteine serves a wide range of important biological and chemical functions and may have an association to neurodegenerative disease and cancer. Rapid, accurate analytical methods for cysteine detection are thus highly desirable. In this work, we report an investigation into the utility of in situ Raman spectroscopy as a Process Analytical Technology (PAT) for real time monitoring of cysteine. Cysteine concentrations are tracked in real time using Raman spectroscopy across a range of pharmaceutically-relevant concentrations, demonstrating the capability of Raman spectroscopy detection for in situ cysteine monitoring. The concentration range over which this analytical methodology can be applied is successfully established. As such, the results herein serve as a proof-of-principle investigation to demonstrate and evaluate the capabilities of a real time Raman spectroscopic approach for in situ cysteine detection, thus informing the range of important chemical and biological processes to which this approach can be applied. Its prevalence ranges from 0.6%-5%. One of the rare manifestations of FHCC includes hyperammonemic hepatic encephalopathy (HAE). Data regarding HAE in FHCC is limited to case reports, and much is unknown, including its precipitating factors, clinical course, and management. We have reported one such case of FHCC associated HAE and presented an extensive literature review on the topic. We report the case of a 26-year-old Pakistani male who was diagnosed with fibrolamellar hepatocellular carcinoma. On day five after the first chemotherapy, he presented with nausea, vomiting, and confusion. His serum ammonia level was raised, and he was treated with lactulose and rifaximin. The patient continued chemotherapy and had recurrent admissions with HAE. A detailed workup revealed acquired ornithine transcarbamylase deficiency. Ammonia level peaked at 694 umol/L during the clinical course of his disease. He received treatment with multiple ammonia scavengers, including sodium benzoate + phenylacetate, with relief of symptoms and reduction in ammonia level. The patient was eventually lost to follow-up. HAE presents as a paraneoplastic manifestation of FHCC. Patients have laboratory features suggestive of acquired ornithine transcarbamylase deficiency. There is a variable frequency of episodes reported in the literature. Most patients respond well to ammonia scavenger therapies rather than conventional HE management with lactulose or rifaxmin.Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a series of RNA molecules without ability to code proteins. LncRNAs have emerged as significant players in almost all aspects of gene function and regulation and play crucial roles in many human diseases. Particular lncRNAs are deemed to be promising molecular biomarkers used for diagnosing diseases and determining patient prognoses and treatment efficacies. LINC00339 is a new budding lncRNA and much of evidence shows that it is abnormally expressed in multifarious diseases, including endometriosis, cardiomyocyte apoptosis, osteoporosis, digestive-system tumors, respiratory-system tumors, nervous-system tumors, and diseases involving other systems. Additionally, LINC00339 is remarkably associated with different clinical features, such as tumor size, TNM stage, and pathological grade. LINC00339 expression has been proved to upregulate in the aforementioned diseases and has been identified to promote disease occurrence and development. It is also reported that LINC00339 is associated with various cellular events, such as tumor cell proliferation, motility and invasiveness, the expression has also been proved that it is closely related to clinical symptoms in cancer patients. This review summarizes the relationships among expression levels, biological features, clinical symptoms, and regulatory mechanisms of LINC00339 in several diseases and discusses the clinical applications of LINC00339 as a cancer diagnostic, prognostic and treatment efficacy biomarker.

The scientific researches on COVID-19 pandemic topics are headed to an explosion of scientific literature. Despite these global efforts, the efficient treatment of patients is an in-progress challenge. Based on a meta-study of published shreds of evidence about compounds and their botanic sources in the last six decades, a novel multiple-indication herbal compound (Saliravira®) has been developed. Based on the antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and immune-enhancing properties of its ingredients, we hypothesized that Saliravira® has the potential to act as an antiviral agent, accelerate treatment, and reduce undesirable effects of COVID-19.

In this randomized, controlled, open-label clinical trial, COVID-19 outpatients were included by RT-PCR test or diagnosis of physicians according to the symptoms. Participants were randomly divided into intervention and control groups to receive Saliravira® package plus routine treatments of COVID-19 or routine treatments of COVID-19 alone, respectively. Herein, we examined the antiproliferative activity of the Lactiplantibacillus plantarum strains S2T10D and O2T60C, which have been previously shown to exert different butyrogenic activities. Human HT-29 cells were employed as an in vitro colon cancer model and both bacterial strains were found to inhibit their growth. However, the strain S2T10D showed a greater antiproliferative activity which, interestingly, was correlated to its butyrogenic capability. Noteworthy, for the non-butyrogenic strain O2T60C, the growth inhibitory capability was rather limited. Furthermore, both the butyrate-containing supernatant of S2T10D and glucose-deprived cell culture medium supplemented with the same concentration of butyrate found in S2T10D supernatant, induced a pH-independent cancer cell growth inhibition accompanied by downregulation of cyclin D1 at mRNA level. The downregulation of cyclin D1 gene expression was accompanied by cell cycle arrest in G2/M phase and decrease of cyclin B1 and D1 protein levels. This in vitro study underlines the impact of Lpb. plantarum in the growth inhibition of cancer cells, and proposes butyrate-mediated cell cycle regulation as a potential involved mechanism. Since the production of butyric acid in Lpb. plantarum has been proven strain-dependent and differentially boosted by specific prebiotic compounds, our results open future research paths to determine whether this metabolic activity could be modulated in vivo by enhancing this antiproliferative effects on cancer cells.Ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba L.) is a traditional economic tree species in China. Ginkgo biloba extract (GBE) is widely used in combination to treat hypertension and complications in clinical practice. However, the antihypertensive effect of GBE alone is weak and it is also difficult to study the mechanism because of its complex composition. This study was to prepare a new component group of Ginkgo biloba leaves (GBLCG) with clear chemical structures, and to investigate its effect on reducing blood pressure and improving myocardial hypertrophy in spontaneously hypertensive rats with GBE and amlodipine as positive controls. The results showed that total flavonoid aglycones (TFAs) of GBLCG was mainly composed of quercetin (QCT), kaempferol (KMF) and isorhamnetin (ISR); Total terpenoid lactones (TTLs) of GBLCG might be a novel cocrystal composed of Ginkgolide A (GA), Ginkgolide B (GB) Ginkgolide C (GC), Ginkgolide J (GJ) and bilobalide (BB). The hypotensive activity of GBLCG (4.4 mg/kg) group was better than that of GBE group (p less then 0.05), and the effect of improving myocardial hypertrophy was better than that of amlodipine besylate group (p less then 0.01). GBLCG might reduce blood pressure and improve myocardial hypertrophy by promoting the synthesis and release of NO in endothelial cells, reducing oxidative stress, inhibiting platelet aggregation and promoting lesion circulation. This study aimed to identify multiresistant pathogens in different production stages of artisanal goat coalho cheese in Brazil and characterize their phenotypic and genotypic resistance. Eleven properties in the state of Pernambuco, Brazil, participated in the study. Samples were obtained from different stages of production and the humans involved. The samples obtained were submitted to microbiological culture, then all the isolated microorganisms were submitted to the Matrix Associated Laser Desorption-Ionization - Time of Flight technique for the microbiological identification of the species. Subsequently, Staphylococcus spp., Enterococcus spp. and Macrococcus caseolyticus were subjected to polymerase chain reaction to search for resistance genes and disc diffusion technique to evaluate the resistance profile. A total of 111 isolates were obtained and 31 species were identified, with the frequency of Staphylococcus spp. (62.20%; 69/111), Enterococcus spp.
