In-situ biological reconditioning of active matrix in CW by tailored macrophytes is a novel strategy that may be applicable to other pollutants.Besides providing essential nutrients for humans, food contains bioactive compounds that exert diverse biological activities such as anti-microbial, anti-cancerogenic, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. The cosmetic industry is interested in natural bioactive compounds for their use in nutricosmetic and cosmeceutical products. These products aimed to reduce skin aging, inflammation or provide photoprotection against UV radiation. As a result, nutricosmetics and cosmeceuticals are becoming innovative self-care products in the beauty market. These products contain phytochemicals as active compounds obtained from fruits, vegetables, legumes, medicinal herbs and plants with anti-aging potential. This review summarizes the information within the last 5 years related to bioactive compounds present in fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices commonly used for human consumption. Their antioxidant and biological potential for modulating molecular markers involved in the aging process, as well as their mechanism of action. Diverse natural foods and their byproducts could be used as a source of bioactive compounds for developing cosmeceutical and nutricosmetic products.With the globalization of food and its complicated networking system, a wide range of food contaminants is introduced into the food system which may happen accidentally, intentionally, or naturally. This situation has made food safety a critical global concern nowadays and urged the need for effective technologies capable of dealing with the detection of food contaminants as efficiently as possible. Hence, Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) has been taken as one of the primary choices for this case, due to its extremely high sensitivity, rapidity, and fingerprinting interpretation capabilities which account for its competency to detect a molecule up to a single level. Here in this paper, we present a comprehensive review of various SERS-based novel approaches applied for direct and indirect detection of single and multiple chemical and microbial contaminants in food, food products as well as water. The aim of this paper is to arouse the interest of researchers by addressing recent SERS-based, novel achievements and developments related to the investigation of hazardous chemical and microbial contaminants in edible foods and water. The target chemical and microbial contaminants are antibiotics, pesticides, food adulterants, Toxins, bacteria, and viruses. In this paper, different aspects of SERS-based reports have been addressed including synthesis and use of various forms of SERS nanostructures for the detection of a specific analyte, the coupling of SERS with other analytical tools such as chromatographic methods, combining analyte capture and recognition strategies such as molecularly imprinted polymers and aptasensor as well as using multivariate statistical analyses such as principal component analysis (PCA)to distinguish between results. In addition, we also report some strengths and limitations of SERS as well as future viewpoints concerning its application in food safety.Chlorpyrifos and the metabolite 3, 5, 6-trichloro-2-pyridinol (TCP) are widespread contamination of aquatic environments especially freshwater fish. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the contribution of using Ficus zero-valent iron nanoparticles supported on adsorbents (F-Fe0 ad) as green nanotechnology and Plantago major as phytoremediation for removing chlorpyrifos and degradation product TCP polluted water. The shapes of F-Fe0 were circular, with sizes from 2.46 nm to 11.49 nm. Wheat bran (WB) showed the highest extent of removal of chlorpyrifos, while Rice straw ash (RSA) showed the lowest extent of removal. F-Fe0 supported on adsorbents has demonstrated faster removal toward chlorpyrifos compared with tested adsorbents or F-Fe0. Chlorpyrifos was removed more quickly and effectively by P. major L. plus F-Fe0 supported on different adsorbents (nearly 100%) than that by P. major (43.76%) or F-Fe0 (81.69%). The degradation product TCP was more greatly accumulated in water treated with F-Fe0 than that P. major alone or F-Fe0 supported with adsorbents and combined with P. major. Furthermore, TCP significantly accumulated in P. major roots and leaves in the water treated with F-Fe0 supported with adsorbents plus P. Tanespimycin mouse major more than that in the P. major roots and leaves alone, this is attributed to the role of F-Fe0 adsorbents for the degradation of chlorpyrifos to TCP, Which strongly accumulated in the P. major roots and leaves. It can be concluded that the contribution of using F-Fe0 supported on adsorbents, especially WB as green nanotechnology and P. major as phytoremediation would be a major role for the complete removal of chlorpyrifos from the water with a significant reduction in the toxic degradation product TCP.Open surgical repair persists as the gold-standard operation for thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm; however, endovascular repair has become commonplace. Technical considerations in thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm treatment are particularly complex, insofar as it involves critical branching arteries feeding the visceral organs. Newer, low-profile devices make total endovascular thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm repair more feasible and, thus, appealing. For younger and low-risk patients, the choice between open and endovascular therapy remains controversial. Despite the advantages of a minimally invasive procedure, data suggest that endovascular aortic repair incurs a greater risk of spinal cord deficit, and the durability of endovascular aortic repair remains unclear. It is difficult to compare outcomes between endovascular and open thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm repair, primarily because of the current investigational status of endovascular devices, the variety of approaches to endovascular repair, differing patient populations, lack of prospective randomized studies, and minimal medium- and long-tern follow-up data on endovascular repair.
