The nanobubble retention increased because of the pre-existence of deposited colloidal particles, indicating that the deposited colloidal particles act as additional deposition sites and physical obstacles for nanobubbles through physicochemical (including hydrophobic) interactions. This study also provides a future reference for the applicability of resonant mass measurement to cotransport experiments of different buoyant particles, including colloids, nanobubbles, and oil droplets.

This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of double antibiotics, including ciprofloxacin and metronidazole, in a new vehicle, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), against Enterococcus faecalis and Streptococcus gordonii grown in biofilm.

Human mandibular premolars were prepared and divided into four groups (i) negative control, (ii) positive control, (iii) infected with E. faecalis and S. gordonii for 21 days and intracanally medicated with double antibiotics in HPMC, and (iv) infected with E. faecalis and S. gordonii for 21 days and intracanally medicated with calcium hydroxide (UltraCal™). The efficacy of medication for 14 or 28 days was determined by bacterial cultures and RT-qPCR for absolute quantities of E. faecalis and S. gordonii cDNA and for relative mRNA expressions of pbp5 and gtfG genes.

There were significant decreases in the mean colony forming units and mean cDNA amounts of E. faecalis and S. gordonii in group (iii) on days 14 and 28 compared to those in group (ii) (p < 0.01). However, the mean cDNA amounts of E. faecalis and S. gordonii in group (iv) were found to be significantly increased on day 28 (p < 0.05). The mRNA expression of gtfG was significantly decreased in groups (iii) and (iv) on days 14 and 28, whereas that of pbp5 was significantly increased in group (iv) on days 14 and 28 (p < 0.01).

Double antibiotics in HPMC gel showed an in vitro efficacy against E. faecalis and S. gordonii grown in biofilm, suggesting its clinical application as an intracanal medicament for both primary and persistent infections.

Computer game assisted task specific exercises (CGATSE) are rehabilitation gaming systems (RGS) used in stroke rehabilitation to facilitate patient performance of high intensity, task based, repetitive exercises aiming to enhance neuroplasticity. CGATSE maybe an appealing option in home based rehabilitation of stroke patients, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to determine the effects of CGATSE on hemiplegic arm-hand function, cognitive function and quality of life in stroke.

Thirty stroke patients were randomized into two groups. All participants received twenty sessions of physical therapy. In addition, the therapy group undertook thirty minutes of CGATSE using the Rejoyce gaming system; while the control group undertook thirty minutes of occupational therapy (OT). Motor function was evaluated before and after treatment using the Fugl Meyer upper extremity (FMUE), Brunnstrom stages of stroke recovery (BSSR) arm and hand. The CGATSE group also completed the Rejoyce arm hand functiilitation options are becoming increasingly important. Benefits of CGATSE in improving cognitive function is less clear. RGS aimed at improving motor function may be compared to gaming systems designed to target cognitive development and more detailed higher cortical function deficit tests can be used as outcome measures.

Unruptured intracranial vertebral artery dissection (VAD) generally heals spontaneously. A chronological evaluation of intramural hematoma (IMH) using T1-weighted vessel wall imaging (VWI) may provide a more detailed understanding of the pathophysiology of VAD. We herein investigated the relationship between chronological signal changes in IMH on VWI and the spontaneous healing of VAD.

We retrospectively investigated 26 patients with 27 unruptured VADs who underwent magnetic resonance (MR) imaging more than three times during the follow-up period. Morphological changes were evaluated using MR angiography (MRA). The relative signal intensity (RSI) of IMH against the posterior cervical muscle on T1-weighted VWI was calculated. The ratio of chronological RSI changes was defined as follows maximum RSI/minimum RSI (RSI

). Based on the median value of RSI

, 27 VADs were divided into VADs with and without chronological RSI changes. Statistical analyses were performed to compare clinical and radiological findings between the two groups.

Spontaneous healing occurred in 17 out of 27 VADs (63%). The median value of RSI

was 1.48. The RSI of VADs with chronological RSI changes (RSI

≥1.48) increased until three weeks after their onset and decreased over time, while that of VADs without chronological RSI changes (RSI

<1.48) showed no change. The frequency of healing was significantly higher in VADs with than without chronological RSI changes (100% vs 23%, p <0.0001).

Chronological signal changes in IMH on T1-weighted VWI have potential as a diagnostic imaging marker of the spontaneous healing of VAD.

CDK activity We reviewed the antibody titres in a cohort of healthcare workers (HCWs) vaccinated with BNT162b2 to assess the influence of a previous infection on them. We stratified the results according to the individual history of nasopharyngeal swab (NPS) and symptoms. Among 3475 HCWs the highest titres were recorded among those infected more than 6 months before vaccination, independently of symptoms, followed by those infected less than 6 months before vaccination, especially in those with symptoms, and by uninfected HCWs. Vaccination with BNT162b2 can boost immunity acquired through infection, particularly in those infected more than 6 months before vaccination.
