This paper aims to investigate different properties of the Fe-Al matrix reinforced with multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanocomposites with the Al volume content up to 65%, according to the Fe-Al combination. In addition, the effect of adding Co content on the improvement of the soft magnetic properties of the nanocomposites was carried out. The nanocomposites were fabricated using the powder metallurgy process. The iron-aluminum metal matrix reinforced multi-walled carbon nanotube (Fe-Al-MWCNT) nanocomposites showed a continuous increase of saturation magnetization from 90.70 A.m2/kg to 167.22 A.m2/kg and microhardness, whereas the electrical resistivity dropped as the Al content increased. The incorporation of Co nanoparticles in Fe-Al-MWCNT up to 35 vol% of Co considerably improved the soft magnetic properties of the nanocomposites by reducing the coercivity and retentivity up to 42% and 47%, respectively. The results showed that Al-based magnetic nanocomposites with a high Al volume content can be tailored using ferromagnetic particles. The composites with a volume content of magnetic particles (Fe+Co) greater than 60 vol% exhibited higher saturation magnetization, higher coercivity, and higher retentivity than the standard Sendust core. Oral mucositis is a common complication of cytotoxic radiotherapy and/or chemotherapy. It occurs in almost every person with head and neck cancer who receive radiotherapy. The research supports its use for gastric ulcers (approved in Japan) and conditions of the upper GI and suggests other applications, particularly for oral mucositis.The increased life expectancy of adult individuals with developmental disabilities and the likelihood of parents having to continue caregiving into their old age is an emerging international issue which deserves investigation, especially concerning satisfaction with caregiving. Moreover, this needs to be assessed in different cultures in order to create a better understanding of how families are best supported in their lifelong caregiving. A sample of 408 parents was gathered in six cities across Iran with a son or daughter who had a confirmed developmental disability. Self-completed measures of satisfaction and stress were obtained along with demographic details of the child and family. Satisfaction with caring was generally positive and was similar for mothers and fathers, for older as well as for younger parents; and between different types of developmental disabilities. However, both personal and child satisfaction decreased when parents reported increased stress and when caring for teenage and adult offspring and those with behavior problems. Parents need to receive support to sustain their motivation and satisfaction with caregiving if their quality of life and that of their children with disabilities is to be maintained and enhanced across their lifespan.Chronic exposure of children in sub-Saharan Africa to aflatoxins has been associated with low birth weight, stunted growth, immune suppression, and liver function damage. Lactobacillus species have been shown to reduce aflatoxin contamination during the process of food fermentation. Twenty-three Lactobacillus strains were isolated from fecal samples obtained from a cohort of rural Ugandan children at the age of 54 to 60 months, typed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing, and characterized in terms of their ability to bind aflatoxin B1 in vitro. Evidence for chronic exposure of these children to aflatoxin B1 in the study area was obtained by analysis of local foods (maize flour and peanuts), followed by the identification of the breakdown product aflatoxin M1 in their urine samples. Surprisingly, Lactobacillus in the gut microbiota of 140 children from the same cohort at 24 and 36 months showed the highest positive correlation coefficient with stunting among all bacterial genera identified in the stool samples. This correlation was interpreted to be associated with dietary changes from breastfeeding to plant-based solid foods that pose an additional risk for aflatoxin contamination, on one hand, and lead to increased intake of Lactobacillus species on the other.BACKGROUND The WHO recommends the use of the Robson ten-group classification system (RTGCS) as an effective monitoring and analysis tool to assess the use of caesarean sections (CS). The present study aimed to conduct an analysis of births using the RTGCS in La Ribera University Hospital over nine years and to assess the levels and trends of CS births. METHODS Retrospective study between January 1, 2010, and December 31, 2018. All eligible women were allocated in RTGCS to determine the absolute and relative contribution made by each group to the overall CS rate; linear regression and weighted least squares regression analysis were used to analyze trends over time. The risk of CS of women with induced versus spontaneous onset of labor was calculated with an odds ratio (OR) with a 95% CI. RESULTS 16,506 women gave birth during the study period, 19% of them by CS.
