MRA from 6-month-old MUN males and females showed a smaller diameter, reduced adventitial, smooth muscle cell density and IEL fenestra area, and a leftward shift of stress-strain curves. At the age of eighteen months SBP and MMP-9 activity were higher in both MUN males and females, compared to sex-matched controls. These data suggest that fetal undernutrition induces MRA inward eutrophic remodeling and stiffness in both sexes, independent of blood pressure level. Resistance artery structural and mechanical alterations can participate in the development of hypertension in aged females and may contribute to adverse cardiovascular events associated with low birth weight in both sexes.Ni-Co-Al, Ni-Cu-Al and Co-Cu-Al ternary oxide catalysts, with a fixed 5 wt% transition metal loading, were prepared by the microwave-assisted solution combustion method and tested in CO oxidation. The bulk and surface properties of the catalysts were investigated, using XRD, N2 adsorption-desorption, SEM, XPS and TEM techniques. XRD, XPS and TEM results revealed that nickel and cobalt were present as spinels on the surface and in the bulk. Differently, copper was preferentially present in "bulk-like" CuO-segregated phases. No interaction between the couples of transition metal species was detected, and the introduction of Cu-containing precursors into the Ni-Al or Co-Al combustion systems was not effective in preventing the formation of NiAl2O4 and CoAl2O4 spinels in the Ni- or Co-containing catalysts. Copper-containing catalysts were the most active, indicating that copper oxides are the effective active species for improving the CO oxidation activity.Traditional herbal medicines have become a subject of global importance with both medical and economic implications. Thus, relevant scientific evidence has become an important criterion for the acceptance of traditional health claims. The genus Cotoneaster Medikus provides numerous species traditionally used in Asian medicine for the treatment of haemorrhoids, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. This review summarises the achievements of modern research on the Cotoneaster taxa, including ethnobotany, phytochemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology. To date, more than 90 compounds have been isolated or analytically identified in Cotoneaster leaves, fruits, flowers or twigs. These phytochemicals are categorised into flavonoids, procyanidins, phenolic acids, cotonefurans, cyanogenic glycosides, triterpenes, sterols, fatty acids, volatile compounds, and carbohydrates, and many of them are responsible for Cotoneaster pharmacological properties including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antiparasitic, hepatoprotective, anti-diabetic or anti-dyslipidaemic activity. In order to ensure the safety of pharmaceutical applications, the potential toxicity of Cotoneaster extracts has also been investigated. In conclusion, this systematic review provides an important reference base for further study into the various medical applications of both the dry extracts and pure isolates of Cotoneaster species.As a representative of the third generation of advanced high strength steel, the quenching and partitioning steel has excellent potential in automobile manufacturing. The characterization and analysis of the mechanical properties and microstructure of the quenching and partitioning steel during deformation is an effective way to explore the microstructure evolution and transformation-induced plasticity effects of complex phase steels. The relationship between the microstructure morphology and mechanical properties of a 1180 MPa-grade quenching and partitioning steel was investigated through interrupted uniaxial tensile tests plus quasi-situ electron backscatter diffraction measurements. A mixture of ferrite, martensite, and retained austenite was observed in the microstructure. It was found that the volume fraction of global retained austenite decreased linearly with the increase of displacement (0 mm-1.05 mm). The evolution of the retained austenite with typical crystal direction ranges with deformation was characterized. Results show that the orientation (111) and (311) account for the highest proportion of retained austenite grains in the undeformed sample and the mechanical stability of the (311) retained austenite grains is the best. Moreover, the retained austenite grains rotated significantly in the early stage of the specimen deformation process (around yielding), and the work hardening of the specimen was weak at this stage, simultaneously.Sediment and flow depth monitoring in sewers is important for informing flow models and for predicting and mitigating against sewer blockage formation and surcharge. In this study, a novel sensor based on conductance measurement has been developed and tested under a laboratory environment and validated by a finite-element model. The relative conductance is measured between pairs of adjacent electrodes to provide a conductance profile along the sensor length. A piecewise linear relationship between conductance and electrode length was derived and the interface positions between sediment, water, and air can be determined from the profile. The results demonstrated that the root mean square error of the model and the measured interface level are within 1.4% and 2.6% of sensor's measurement range. An error distribution of interface height shows that all anticipated errors are within the resolution of the electrode length increments. Furthermore, it was found that the conductivity of the measured medium is proportional to the gradient of the linear relationship of conductance and electrode length. Although the early stages of NAFLD are reversible with diet and lifestyle modifications, detecting such stages is hindered by a lack of non-invasive methods of risk assessment and diagnosis. This absence of non-invasive means of diagnosis is directly related to the scarcity of long-term prospective studies of pediatric NAFLD in children and adolescents. In the majority of pediatric NAFLD cases, the mechanisms driving the origin and rapid progression of NAFLD remain unknown. The progression from NAFLD to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) in youth is associated with unique histological features and possible immune processes and metabolic pathways that may reflect different mechanisms compared with adults. Recent data suggest that circulating microRNAs (miRNAs) are important new biomarkers underlying pathways of liver injury.
