0001), respectively. For women and men, the R values were similar in thoracic vertebra T11 at 0.62 (95% CI 0.49-0.72) and 0.64 (95% CI 0.44-0.77), respectively. The vertebral signal correlated significantly better with age in the 1.5-T compared to the 3-T unit on all vertebral levels the best R value of the 3-T unit was only 0.20 (95% CI 0.09-0.30, P  less then  0.0001). Our study showed an average increase of the relative T1 signal in T11 of 10% per decade. Conclusion T1 fat signal ratio increases with age in the vertebral bodies, which could help estimating the age of a person. Best age correlation was found when measuring T1 signal in T11, standardized by the sacral subcutaneous fat signal and using a 1.5-T MRI. © The Foundation Acta Radiologica 2020.Case summary A case of nasal adenocarcinoma as a suspected secondary malignant neoplasm following definitive radiation therapy and multiagent chemotherapy for nasal lymphoma is described. An 11-year-old spayed female domestic shorthair cat was presented for a 3-week history of progressive facial swelling located over the nasal planum and extending to the medial canthus of the right eye. The cat was previously diagnosed with nasal lymphoma and treated with chemotherapy and definitive radiation 2.5 years prior. Although a definitive diagnosis could not be obtained via cytology, recurrent lymphoma was suspected based on the cat's history and recurrent clinical signs. A lymphoma-directed chemotherapy protocol was attempted, but no clinical response was achieved. The cat was euthanased owing to progressive clinical signs and a diagnosis of nasal adenocarcinoma was made on necropsy examination. Both the original diagnosis of nasal lymphoma and the secondary diagnosis of nasal adenocarcinoma were confirmed with immunohistochemistry. Relevance and novel information Secondary malignant neoplasm following radiation therapy is infrequently reported in the veterinary literature. In the few reports that exist, most have described sarcoma development in the dog following radiation therapy. In the present report, we describe a cat with a suspected radiation-induced nasal adenocarcinoma that developed 2.5 years after definitive radiation treatment for nasal lymphoma. © The Author(s) 2020.The objective of this ex post facto study was to find out how different coping and personality styles influence satisfaction with life in a group of 55 people with chronic kidney disease, 34 of whom were receiving haemodialysis and 21 had undergone a kidney transplant. The participants completed three questionnaires, the SWLS, CAEPO and MIPS. The results showed the relationship between active coping strategies and satisfaction with life in haemodialysis patients, kidney transplant recipients and the total sample. A Pleasure-Enhancing personality style was significantly related to Satisfaction with Life, both in the total sample, and in the two groups separately. There were no significant differences in Satisfaction with Life between the haemodialysis patients and kidney transplant recipients. The theoretical repercussions of these results are discussed, highlighting their applications to clinical practice, in which training in active coping is essential. Therefore, the present study investigated sex-related differences in children learning to maintain balance under dynamic conditions. Methods Thirty-two children (16 girls, 16 boys) aged 8.5 ± 0.5 years practiced balancing on a stabilometer (i.e., to keep it as horizontal as possible) for seven trials (90 s each) on two consecutive days. Knowledge of results (KR) (i.e., time in balance) was provided after each trial. On day three learning was assessed using a retention test (i.e., balance task only) and a test of automation (i.e., balance plus concurrent motor interference task). Root-mean-square-error (RMSE) was recorded for all trials and used for further analysis. Results During practicing (Day 1, Day 2) RMSE values significantly decreased over the days (p = 0.019, d = 0.92) and trials (p = 0.003, d = 0.70) in boys and girls. Further, the main effect of sex showed a tendency toward significance (p = 0.082, d = 0.67). On day 3, the girls showed significantly smaller RMSE values compared to boys in the retention (p = 0.012, d = 1.00) and transfer test (p = 0.045, d = 0.74). Conclusions Performance increases during the acquisition phase tended to be larger in girls than in boys. Further, learning (i.e., retention and automation) was significantly larger in girls compared to boys. Therefore, practitioners (e.g., teachers, coaches) should supply boys and grils with balance exercises of various task difficulties and complexities to address their diverse learning progress.
